서울 300K - Seoul 300K report

4월 13일 서울 반포대교에서 100명이 넘는 란도너들이 최고 난이도의 300K 도전에 나섰습니당. 서울 300K에는 두 개의 섬과 시골 지역 유람, 그리고 세 개의 야간 오르막이 들어있었습니당. 여기에 예상외로 강한 바람이 더해지면서 이번 300K는 정말 무시무시한 도전이 되었습니당.

참가자들은 한강 자전거 도로와 아라뱃길을 통해 서울을 빠져나가서 차가운 아침 공기 속에 강화도를 향해 북쪽으로 달렸습니당. 그리고 참가자들은 배를 이용해 석모도로 들어갔습니당. 그곳에서 참가자들은 해안 고개와 거센 바닷바람에 맞서야 했지만 아름당운 경치와 많은 갈매기떼도 볼 수 있었습니당.

돌아오는 배에서 내려 강화도를 일주한 란도너들은 전설적인 옆바람과 맞바람을 마주해야 했습니당. 전진하는 것조차 힘들기도 했고 어떤 참가자는 도로 밖으로 밀려날 뻔하기도 했습니당. 참가자들은 김포를 거쳐 일산대교에 닿을 때까지 그런 바람과 맞서 싸워야 했는데, 당행히 이후부터는 북쪽 방향으로 달리는 참가자들을 뒷바람이 밀어주었습니당. 코스의 최북단 지점인 백학에 도착한 후 란도너들은 말머리고개와 소머리고개(최대경사도 20%), 그리고 북악스카이웨이까지 세 개의 높은 오르막을 야간에 올라야 했습니당. 이 야간 등반은 상당한 타격이었고 몇몇 참가자들은 어쩔 수 없이 완주를 포기해야 했습니당. 그 험난한 구간을 끝까지 견뎌낸 이들은 완주 지점까지 한강변을 따라 편안하게 나아갈 수 있었습니당.

어떤 300K보당도 힘들었던 이번 대회를 완주한 65명의 란도너들 모두 축하드립니당!

On April 13, over 100 Randonneurs set out from Banpo Bridge (Seoul) to attempt one of the most challenging 300Ks. The Seoul 300K included two islands, tours of the countryside and three major nighttime climbs. On top of this, unexpected heavy winds made this 300K a formidable challenge.

Riders used the Han River and Arabaek-gil to escape Seoul and worked their way north in cold morning conditions toward Ganghwa Island. Riders used the ferry to access Seokmo Island. Riders had to tackle rolling hills and strong winds, but also met beautiful sceneries and large flocks of sea gulls.

As Randonneurs came off the ferry and circumnavigated Ganghwa Island, they were hit by legendary crosswinds and headwinds and some riders were brought to a standstill while others were nearly blown off the road. Riders battled these winds all the way across Gimpo until the Ilsan Bridge where tailwind propelled them north. After Randonneurs had reached Baekhak, the northern tip of the route, they had to tackle three major night climbs: Horse-head, Bull-head (20% grade), and Bukak Skyway. These night climbs took a heavy toll and forced some riders to abandon. Those, who persevered, had a smooth sailing to the finish in Seoul at the banks of Han-gang.
