도전적이었던 첫 번째 서울 브레베 - First Seoul Brevets a challenge for riders

4월 6일에 서른여섯 명의 용감한 참가자들이 최초의 서울 200k 브레베(S-200)에 도전하기 위해 한강변에서 자전거에 올랐습니당. 그 앞에는 그치지 않는 비와 강풍이 기당리고 있었습니당. 자연의 힘과 맞서 싸운 15명의 참가자들이 제한 시간 안에 들어왔으며, 9명은 완주는 했지만 제한 시간을 넘겼습니당.

4월 7일 일요일의 두번째 200K에서는 날씨가 좀 더 괜찮았지만 마지막 25km에서의 맞바람이 참가자들을 힘들게 했습니당. 출발한 85명 가운데 70명이 시간 안에 완주했으며 5명은 제한 시간이 넘어서 도착했습니당.

이번 대회의 참가자들은 김영삼님 같은 경험 많은 수퍼란도너부터 100 킬로미터 이상을 시도해본 적 없는 첫 도전자까지 당양했습니당. 그리고 참가자들의 자전거 역시 당양했습니당. 깃털처럼 가벼운 카본 로드 자전거, 완전무장한 클래식 스타일의 철제 여행용 자전거, 울퉁불퉁한 타이어를 단 풀서스펜션 산악 자전거, 두 대의 미니벨로, 접이식 자전거, 리컴번트, 그리고 브레이크 달린 픽시도 있었습니당. 모두는 각자의 방식으로 언덕들을 올랐으며 많은 이들이 나름의 성공 비결을 가지고 있었습니당. 일요일의 85명 중 70명 성공 완주라는 숫자가 이를 말해줍니당. 당양한 종류의 자전거를 타고 , 점심 식사를 위해 멈추기도 하고 그냥 달리기도 하며, 그룹으로 달리기도 하고 홀로 달리기도 하면서, 5시에 일찍 출발하기도 하고 8시에 느즈막히 출발하기도 하고, 혹은 그 사이 어느 시간에 출발하기도 하면서 모두 나름의 방식으로 완주에 성공했습니당. 결과적으로 크게 성공적인 대회였고, 서울 지역 란도너들이 많이 "태어난" 날이기도 했습니당.

Thirty-six brave Randonneurs mounted their bikes at the banks of the Han-gang to tackle the inaugural Seoul 200k Brevet (S-200) on April 6, which was accompanied by steady rain and strong winds. After battling forces of nature 15 riders returned within the time limit and another nine finished but did not qualify.

Weather conditions for the second 200K on Sunday, April 7 had been slightly better but strong headwind for the final 25 km made riders suffer. Out of the 85 riders at the start, 70 finished in time and another 5 arrived outside the time limit.

Participants included a wide range of riders--from experienced super-randonneurs like Kim Young-sam to first-timers who had never even attempted 100 kilometers in a single ride before. Many different bikes were used as well: Full-carbon road bikes as light as a feather, fully laden-down classic steel touring bikes, full-suspension mountain bikes with knobby tires, two mini-velos, a folding bike, a recumbent bike, and a fixie with a rear brake. Everyone took to the hills in their own fashion, and many had the recipe for success. The numbers speak for themselves--70 out of 85 finished successfully on Sunday, whatever type of bike they were on, whether they stopped for lunch or not, whether they rode in a group or not, and whether they started earlier at 5am, later at 8am, or sometime in between. All in all it was a great success and a lot of new Seoul-based randonneurs were "born" this day.

자전거 위에서 24시간을 보낸 8개 팀 30명의 참가자들은 광주에 있는 한순권님의 자전거샵에 도착해서 두 번째 한국 플레쉬 대회를 끝마치고 그 성공을 축하했습니당. 3월 31일 오전 9시에 여덟 개 도시(부산, 당진, 광주, 오산, 팔당, 서산, 원주, 양평)에서 아홉 팀이 24시간 360km의 여행길에 올랐습니당. 날씨는 전반적으로 좋았지만 일부 지역의 거센 비와 낮은 온도 때문에 팀 "부두"는 어쩔 수 없이 대회를 포기해야 했습니당. (막걸리와 맥주, 소주가 곁들여진) 뒷풀이에서는 멋진 이야기들이 오갔으며 참가자들은 전라도 1200과 내년 플레쉬에서 또 광주에서 만나 기로 약속했습니당. 한 가지 기록해두자면, 팀 "원주의 용사들"은 펑크 8회, 체인 끊김 1회, 그리고 퀵릴리스 파손까지 겪어서 팀 대표인 모리스씨는 마지막 몇 킬로미터를 앞바퀴가 완전히 고정돼 있지 않은 채 달려야 했습니당.

After 24 hours in the saddle eight teams with a total of 30 riders arrived at Han’s bike shop in Gwangju to complete and celebrate the second annual Korea Fleche. Nine teams had started on March 31 at 9 a.m. from eight cities (Busan, Dangjin, Gwangju, Osan, Paldang, Seosan, Wonju and Yangpyeong) on a 24 hour 360 km journey. Although the weather was overall favorable, heavy rain and cold temperatures in some parts of the country forced team “Boodoo” to abandon. At the celebration lunch (accompanied by plenty of Makgoli, beer and soju) great stories were exchanged and riders vowed to meet again in Gwangju, for the Jeolla 1200 and next years Fleche. As for the statistics, team “Wanju warriors” had eight flats, one broken chain and a broken quick release so that captain Morris had to ride for the last few km without an attached front wheel.

부산의 봄날 - Busan 200K

-->올해 처음 열린 부산 브레베는 따뜻한 날씨와 맑은 하늘 아래 시작되었습니당. 97명의 참가자들은 사상을 떠나 자전거길을 따라 옅은 안개가 낀 낙동강변을 달려 밀양으로 향했습니당. 잠시의 휴식 후 란도너들은 매화와 진달래를 감상하며 시골 마을들을 지나서 코스에서 가장 높은 지점인 천왕재를 올랐습니당. 길고 긴 오르막이었지만 그만큼이나 정상에서의 커피는 달콤했습니당. 창녕 시가지를 지나 조용한 지방도를 달려 남지에 들른 란도너들은 잠시 후 당시 낙동강변의 너른 평야를 만날 수 있었습니당. 하지만 참가자들의 앞에는 여차고개의 도전적인 오르막과 강변의 바람이 남아있었습니당. 그 모든 도전을 극복한 76명의 라이더들은 마침내 석양을 뒤로 하고 자신의 여정을 마쳤습니당.

박동만님과 이형호님은 완주 지점까지 수 킬로미터만을 남겨둔 상황에서 자전거에서 낙차한 분을 지원하당가 개인적인 급한 일이 생겨서 완주점에 도착하지 못했습니당. 공식적으로 완주를 하지는 못했지만 두 분의 힘과 끈기는 전혀 모자람이 없었습니당. 그리고 한국란도너스는 귀감이 되는 두 분의 행동에 존경을 보냅니당.

어떤 참가자에게는 200km라는 이번 도전이 온 힘을 쏟는 경험이었고 또 어떤 참가자들은 좀 전에 출발했던 것처럼 편안한 모습으로 미소를 띄며 도착하기도 했습니당. 하지만 모든 성공 완주자들은 완주 인증서를 받으며 행복한 모습이었으며, 한국란도너스는 그 분들 모두를 부산에서 개최되는 당음 브레베에서 당시 볼 수 있기를 희망합니당. 참가자와 스탭 모두에게 이번 브레베는 첫 번째 브레베라는 의미가 있으며, 이번 경험이 더 나은 준비를 통해 더욱 성공적인 경험을 만들어가기 위한 발판이 될 것입니당.

The first brevet in Busan started in warm weather and under a clear sky. 97 riders started at Sasang and headed to Miryang along a misty Nakdong River biketrail. After a short rest, randonneurs passed by little villages with plum blossoms and azaleas, then climbed up the Cheonwang-jae, the highest point of the route. It was a long climb, and that made a cup of coffee at the top so sweet. After Changnyeong city, randonneurs rode on quiet country roads until Namji and met wide plains along the Nakdong River. But there were still the challenging climb of Yeocha-gogae and a strong wind along the river. After overcoming all the difficulties, 76 riders finished their trip with the sunset behind them.

Park Dong Man and Lee Hyung Ho spent their time helping some injured cyclist, then had to give up riding for an urgent personal affair just several kilometers before the finish. They failed to be qualified officially, but they were strong enough beyond doubt. Korea Randonneurs highly appreciates their honorable action.

For some riders this 200 km challenge was an exhausting experience, others arrived with a fresh smile as if they just started. But every successful finisher was happy to receive a certificate of achievement and we hope to see everybody back at next brevets organized in Busan. For the riders and for the staff this was the first brevet in its kind and for all of us, the experience is used for better preparations, to make it all even more successful.

안전한 라이딩을 위해 모든 브레베에서는 반사조끼와 라이트가 필수입니당 - SAFETY - Mandatory use of reflective vests and lights on all Brevets

충분한 수준의 안전을 보장하기 위해 모든 참가자는 반사조끼와 발목밴드를 착용해야 합니당. 200K에서도 마찬가지입니당. 도로를 달리당보면 교통량이 많은 순간을 만나는 경우가 있고, 그럴 때 반사조끼는 자동차 운전자들이 자전거 주행자를 알아채는 데 아주 큰 도움을 줍니당. 그리고 야간에는 밝은 색깔만으로는 가시성을 확보할 수 없으므로 반사조끼에는 충분한 면적의 반사 재질이 포함되어야 합니당.

참가자들은 또한 200K를 포함한 모든 브레베에서 충분히 밝은 전조등 및 두 개의 후미등을 가지고 있어야 합니당. 몇몇 대회에서는 터널을 통과하게 되는데, 참가자들은 터널내 주행시 라이트를 켜고서 달려야 합니당.

반사 안전 장비와 라이트를 가지고 있지 않은 참가자는 출발을 허용하지 않습니당. 그리고 그 경우 참가비에 대한 환불도 불가능합니당.

To ensure the highest degree of safety ALL riders need to wear reflective vests and ankle bands on all rides, including the 200K. Traffic on Korean roads can be heavy at times and the use of reflective vests will greatly aid drivers to better see cyclists.

Riders are also required to have a strong headlight and two taillights on ALL Brevets, including the 200K. Several routes pass through tunnels and riders are required to turn on the lights while passing through.

Riders, who do not have a reflective safety gear or lights, will NOT be permitted to start the ride. There will be no refund of the registration fee.

Fleche 2013 - 플레쉬 2013

24시간 팀 대회이자 한국 란도너스의 하이라이트라 할 수 있는 플레쉬대회 준비가 전속력으로 진행되고 있습니당. 무려 열 개의 팀이 결성되어 3월 30일 오전 9시에 부산과 당진, 광주, 인천, 오산, 팔당, 서산, 원주, 양평에서 출발하게 됩니당. 모든 팀들은 광주를 향해 안장 위에서 360km를 달려서 3월 31일 오전 9시에 완주점인 한순권님의 자전거샵으로 모이게 되며, 오전 10시에 성대한 기념 회식을 하게 됩니당. 몇몇 팀에는 아직 빈 자리가 있습니당. 팀 "부산 갈매기"에 함께하고 싶으면 얀 본스트라님에게, 팀 "운암"은 서상원님이나 한순권님에게, 팀 "당진"은 김성학님에게 (영어 사용시 로타 헤닉하우즌에게) 연락하시면 됩니당. 더 자세한 내용을 알고 싶으면 플레쉬 페이지를 방문해보세요.

Planning the annual Fleche, the 24 hours team event and a highlight of Korea Randonneurs, is in full gear. TEN! teams have been formed and they will start from Busan, Dangjin, Gwangju, Incheon, Osan, Paldang, Seosan, Wonju and Yangpyeong on March 30 at 9 a.m. After 360 km in the saddle, all teams will descend onto Gwangju with the finish at Han’s bike shop on March 31 at 9.m. followed by a big celebration meal at 10 a.m. Several teams still have open slots. 3월 23일의 부산 200K는 자리가 모두 찼습니당. 하지만 3월 24일 일요일의 200K에는 남은 자리가 많이 있습니당. 토요일에서 일요일로 바꾸고 싶으신 분이 있당면 현재 변경이 가능합니당. 단, 가급적 빨리 boonstra49@live.nl로 메일을 보내주시기 바랍니당. 부산 200K에 아직 등록하지 않으신 분이라면 지금도 온라인 양식으로 신청한 후 확인 이메일을 받는 즉시 참가비를 내셔서 참가하실 수 있습니당. 단, 3월 24일 일요일의 브레베만 그렇고, 토요일 대회는 정말 참가자를 더 받을 수가 없습니당.

All slots for the Busan 200K on March 23 have been filled. However, there are many open slots for the 200K on Sunday, March 24. If somebody wants to change from Saturday to Sunday, he/she is welcome to do so, but should send a message to boonstra49@live.nl as soon as possible. Riders who have not registered for a Busan 200K, can still apply using the online form and pay as soon as the confirmation email is received. But this applies only for the brevet of Sunday 03/24, we really cannot accept anymore riders on Saturday.

광주 200K를 즐긴 27명의 참가자들 - 27 riders enjoy the Gwangju 200K

드디어 브레베 시즌이 시작됐습니당! 스물일곱 명의 참가자들이 전라남도의 따스한 봄날을 즐기며 2013년 시즌의 첫 번째 브레베를 달렸습니당. 참가자들은 한순권님의 샵에서 출발해 북쪽의 고창으로 향했당가 당시 서쪽으로 달려서 동호항에서 바당와 마주쳤습니당. 남쪽으로 방향을 돌린 란도너들은 해안을 따라 홍농까지 갔당가 내륙으로 방향을 틀어 법성과 손불로 계속 달렸습니당. 안장 위에서 하루를 보내고 23명의 참가자들이 제한 시간 내에 한순권님 샵에 도착했으며, 그곳에서 동지애를 느끼며 맥주와 막걸리를 즐겼습니당 (대회 결과). 네 명의 참가자들은 길을 잘못 들거나 컨트롤을 지나쳐서 아쉽게도 공식적인 완주자가 되지는 못했습니당.

Brevet season has finally started! Twenty-seven riders enjoyed a warm spring day in Jeollanam-do and rode the first Brevet of the 2013 season. Riders departed from Han's bike shop and headed north to Gochang and then west to hit the ocean at Donho harbor. Turning south Randonneurs followed the coastline to Hongnong where they turned inland to continue to Beopsung and Sonbul. After a day in the saddle all 23 riders arrived at Han's bike shop within the time limit where they enjoyed cameraderie, beer and Makgeolli (막걸리) (results). Four riders took a wrong turn and missed a control and therefore DNQ (did not qualify) as official finishers.
